Allee Du Kaai: Hip Hop O’Kaai 10/02
February 10th, Allee Du Kaai opens its doors to hip-hop fans. From 2pm you’re welcome to participate at various workshops (slam, dance, scratch, …). At the end of the day you’ll be able to enjoy a documentary screening of IAM followed by several concerts to discover local hip-hop artists. Keep an eye at our fb-page, more information is coming soon.
Toestand International 2018
Is there anything better than making summer plans during these cold and snowy days? Just like every year for the past three years, we will participate in an international project in July 2018. Our destination is not yet confirmed nor is the exact date, but we would like to get an overview of all interested volunteers.
Interested? Send a motivation letter to firstname.lastname@example.org in which you tell us who you are, as well as why you want to join the international project. The application deadline is December 22nd. Don’t forget to apply!
Biestebroek: We’re getting ready for BB-Bis!
While still brainstorming over Biestebroek’s future, we already like to mention that February will be a construction month. We will prepare our new location and take care of the electricity, fire safety, sanitary… Everyone is welcome to volunteer. Our new location currently remains a secret but more information is coming soon.
La Dalle: Winterfeest/Fête d’hiver
Homemade pizzas, a campfire, presents and many happy faces! At Friday 22th December we had a great Winter Party at La Dalle. We like to thank all attendees for the good vibes. Click here to see all pictures.
Allee Du Kaai: Time to be proud!
A group of youngsters that have been rehearsing at Allee Du Kaai for the last months won the first prize at the 17th edition of Festival Mimouna 2017. Now that they’ve won, they’re able to play their theatre piece ‘Carré VIP’ abroad at an international festival. Congrats!
Biestebroek: Photo book
To thank our partners, volunteers and everyone involved we made a selection of the best pictures of the past two years and put them all together in a booklet. Come and get your free copy at the flee market! If you are too curious or you can’t make it next weekend, you can have a look at our Facebook page. Click Here to check it out. Before getting on to the next topic, we would like to thank Frédérique Vansteenwijgen for taking most of the pictures!
Here we go again with a well filled newsletter since there’s a lot we`d like to share. For the first time Toestand received structural support from the VGC. We feel that a long- term vision is exactly what a city like Brussels needs (and what’s missing too often) and therefore we are very grateful for their support. It gives us the opportunity to look ahead and seize new opportunities. Click here for more information.
Moving in style!
Biestebroek is moving in less than one month. An end of an era, but at the same time the beginning of a new chapter. Obviously we won’t let this go unnoticed! Help us moving in style during the ‘verhuis festival du démenagement’ or just come over to celebrate. The festival consists of two parts: a flea market on the 9th of December and a moving-day on the 16th. Let’s give the old Pias-site the goodbye it deserves!
We’re still searching for a new location. Bruzz wrote an article about our search, Click here to find it.
Marie Moskou: Moskollectif
Marie Moskou proudly presents their youngest partner: Moskollectif. On December 10th, their collective compost officially takes off. The intention is to create a place where people living in the area of the Marie-Jonson square (carré Moskou) can deposit their organic garbage. After the process of decomposition, the resulting potting soil will be used at a communal vegetable garden that will focus mainly on growing zucchinis. We’re very happy with this useful, ecological initiative and of course it’s an excellent opportunity to get to know your sympathetic neighbours.

About the anti squat law
From now on squatting is considered a crime in Belgium. It’s a fact that we are forced to face. A city in motion? All of a sudden the dynamic character of the city is reduced. This law touches the weakest layers of society, those who don’t ‘have’ but are ‘in need of’. It resolutely goes against our ideology. The first of November, a second demonstration will take place.
